GoDaddy Hammering my IP
June 11, 2012 11:30AM
I like to use peerblock as a secondary firewall to my comodo firewall and I noticed last night that my IP is (and continually) getting hammered by 68.178.232.100 (www.whyaretheydead.net-www.wearerobots.com GoDaddy Domain Parking)

It's hammering into my wireless IP every second. I've changed the wireless IP via my uverse config, but it just moved over to that IP. I did a clean install of XP Pro with a new partition and format, because I thought it was a program that had hunkered down into my computer, but it just continues as I type this. The strange thing is that the source is coming from my own IP to their IP. Again this only started (as far as I noticed) last night before the fresh install and now even after.

Any help would be appreciated.

That ip belongs to retentia.com , a law enforcement agency .
You can try allow http on port 80 although I don't think you are visiting their website so obsessively ,
tell me on which port that ip tries to connect to your .

Just a ping to see my reply?

That's an IMCP , a ping , to see if your computer replies to it as it is online .
If you block their IMCP attempts they won't be able to see your machine in most of the cases .

How do I go about blocking it, besides what I'm doing now?
I mean I've got Windows XP Pro and its firewall is on (it was off) and none of the ICMP settings are checkmarked.
I also have comodo firewall.

NEVER run two firewalls at the same time. Disable one of them immediately.

If you are using PeerBlock and that ip is added into your blocklist then you are already blocking anything from that IP .

Yes, that's true, but it was causing my internet to slow down. As it was hitting me every second without delay.
So I blocked them via IP Security and Policy Management and now my internet is moving as fast as it use to.

I've tried that actually before the IP security management and it didn't do a thing for me.
