Which version of PB are you running?

Which version of Windows are you running? Make sure you don't run 64-bit on a 32-bit system or the other way around.

More importantly, please read [forums.peerblock.com] and please attach your peerblock.log and peerblock.conf files so we can take a look at what might be going wrong.

Seems like it can't access the Configuration file and IPFilter service. Do you have an anti-virus or firewall blocking the program?

See the error below:

dumb question but what firewall/anti-virus program do you have? did you give PB allowed access? have you tried installing PB w/o your firewall on? after that have you tried running PB whilst your firewall is disabled? sometimes some firewall programs interfere with PB opening and running, we are going to have to do some trial and error to find out whats going on with PB and your machine, thanks.

The problem is that we cannot load the Microsoft IP Filter Driver.  On XP/2000 class systems, our driver hooks into this driver in order to be able to filter network connections - the error message we're seeing "The specified driver is invalid" suggests that this driver (System32\DRIVERS\ipfltdrv.sys) is messed up.  It's also possible that a virus has registered itself as "IpFilterDriver" as per this Virus Report, but as you're running a decent antivirus this is probably (hopefully?) not the case for you.

Have you tweaked your config to disable any of the default Windows services?  This could potentially cause issues like this I believe.  My XP VMs are not currently operational so I can't double-check things like the Service Name, but could you at least open a command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd.exe) and run the command "sc qc ipfilterdriver" (without quotes) and post a screenshot / cut-and-paste of that command's output?

Hopefully we'll get to the bottom of this soon,

Yep, that's exactly the sort of thing we need - thanks!

The driver registration looks normal, which is good.  Can you next try running the command "net start ipfilterdriver" from a command prompt, and post a screenshot of the result the way you did this one?

It seems that its registered right but something is wrong with it... sfc /scannow with you original install CD in the CD-Rom.

This should correct the problem.

You can still run the System File Checker if you have the i386 folder located directly in C:

Hello everybody...wouldn´t be easier somehow to release another version of PB? I see that "my" problem ( see Issue 75: Unable to load driver, Class win32_error Open Service 1060, The specified service doesn't exist as an installed service at [code.google.com] )is still a big issue here...and no one is fixing it. How sorry I am!
