PB blocking access to the internet
March 11, 2010 02:01PM
Nothing is showing in the blocked connection window, and Http is allowed, but if i disable PB then everything works fine. Utorrent seems to work fine, though im getting alot of tracker timeouts as a result. This just started happening this past week, and i havent changed anything on my computer.

Same thing started happening to me as well. If I try to access a url when it is enabled, and I have log allowed connections turned on, it still shows a bunch of connections in the log, but the site will never load. It was also blocking traffic on my network, which is the first time it's ever done that.

Could you post your config and log file per the instructions below:

Some more observations -

- It blocks IE too, so it seems to be interfering with port 80 connections.
- Enabling "block http" and opening a site shows one connection being blocked whereas it would normally be alot.
- Firefox will not open with PB enabled, and the firefox.exe process will hang if PB is enabled while the browser is closed.

Using WinXP PRo Sp3

Ettin:  I see that you're using the Bogon list.   This list contains addresses that can be required for operation of your local network - try disabling that list, letting PeerBlock re-generate its list cache, and then see if things are working better for you.

Gnarf:  Not sure what's in your "guarding.p2p" file, but try disabling it to see if that fixes things.  Alternatively, if you could post that file here we can take a look at it to see if there are any smoking guns in there.

CoolHandTim:  Logs please?

Disabled bogon list, that fixed it. Perhaps it would be helpful not to have localhost's listed in it???

The guarding.p2p is a listfile from Blocklistmanager. Before I used Peerblock I have used Peerguardian2 with the same list and everything worked.

Should I post the guarding.p2p file?

Yesterday morning IE 8 slowed down to a crawl , when opening and navigating to web-sites . Just IE 8, Firefox wasn't affected . I couldn't figure out what the problem was , until I read this post. After disabling my Bogon list, IE 8 is running at full speed again. Thanks.

we here at PB dont maintain any of the lists so we cant do anything about it.

if you want to get your "localhost's" not listed in it you'd need to talk with the actual list authors, so you'd need to talk to the guys at TBG in order to compliment your request.

As per my comment in another thread, if you're running Bogon I'd strongly recommend also setting up the Bluetack iana-multicast list as an Allow List.
