peerblock icon with shield
March 12, 2010 03:37PM
Hi. I just noticed on my computer running win 7 pro that the icon for peerblock now has a shield with it (appears in taskbar in attachment), similar to the shield when you select run as administrator from the right click menu.

I am running the same peerblock release and lists are identical on a win xp home machine. Is this icon change due to a change by peerblock or some permissions setting on my win 7 computer? Thanks.

You get this icon for all programs which require elevation so there's nothing to worry about.

It's a feature on Windows 7.

If the app is "pinned" to the taskbar this "Shield" overlay will be guaranteed to show up, and the PeerBlock taskbar icon won't be able to change colors.  On my machine, PeerBlock randomly gets this shield overlay sometimes too, even if not pinned - in this case I simply pin it and then unpin it again, and that shield overlay disappears (and the icon color changes as expected).

Annoying, but again this is the default behavior of Win7 it appears...
