Running peerblock as a service at startup?
October 28, 2011 04:39PM
It would be nice to run peerblock automatically as a service on startup. I'm using it on a w2k3 server and am not logged in all the time.I know there is a setting in peerblock to run at startup, but it only starts at login, which means that a user must be logged in in order for it to be running.

There are plans to make PeerBlock into a service.

You can try this - [forums.peerblock.com]

In the mean time you can easily set up peerblock as an service using another application. I've done this for work many times (I'm a Windows Server Administrator for large corporate and govt agencies FYI) Just use INSTSRV.EXE and SRVANY.EXE

I know this link looks old but it's still valid:

This sounds ideal... (until the new version grinning smiley)

Can anyone confirm if it will continue to update the lists etc. without intervention?

Thanks

Also to change settings etc. can you just open the software and change the settings? or do you need to stop the service first...?

If they're stored per user and your running it as SYSTEM I can envisage problems...
