create special feature-to check for updating ISP Lists problems.

Posted by Anonymous User
Rather, than manually having to fix problems with updating ISP Lists in PeerBlocker, I suggest that a feature to automatically check for update problems.

This module would be named something like "Update ISP Lists Fixer".
Firstly, it would look for obvious problems.
Secondly, it would look for deeper problems.
Third, it would fix the problems...(and optionally try to update the ISP List(s).

Hmm, I'm not entirely sure what you mean here...  "ISP Lists" = ??  Unless you're talking about the problems we'd had with iblocklist.com being down?

Could you detail some examples of what you mean by "obvious" / "deeper" problems?

Thanks,

I mean, a module, to possibly look for problems with updating the block lists.

Open PeerBlock > List Manager button > all files in the big white box (block lists).

You're right, I didn't be specific enough.

[ 1 ] First, It would look for more obvious problems,
like no internet connection.

[ 2 ] Secondly, it would look for other problems,
like possible problems within PeerBlock, or possible problems with the user's computer (PeerBlock would ask user before attempting to fix user's computer -or- might just have a message to tell user about a problem).

[ 3 ] Thirdly, it would try to update the lists.
If updating lists is successful, it will say all updates were successful.
If updating lists is unsuccessful, it will say xx number of lists failed to update (and which list(s) by name failed, and possibly why they failed).
