ip question

G'day. New to this. Just trying to get geeked up. I was wondering how to tell what is an outgoing and incoming attempt in the list of ip's.

Hi there YaMate, welcome to the forums!

Outgoing connections will be ones displayed with Source of your computer's IP address - probably 192.168.something.something if you're behind a router.  If the Destination is your computer's IP address, then it'd be an incoming connection.

You can figure out what your machine's IP address is by opening a command prompt and running the command "ipconfig".  Alternatively, whatever IP address shows up consistently in your blocked/allowed display/history is likely yours...  winking smiley

Hope that helps,

Hi String,

The "source" is always the computer who initiated the connection - so when your ip is in 'source', it means that it has come from your computer.

I hope that helps!

Cheers!
